November’s Chopin – It’s not the wave but the sea of tears

Facing the sea wind
The salty love
I can’t taste what future there still is
Tears of November slowly descends upon my face
November’s Storm – Heading your way hard and fast
The turbulent tide
You understand when hearing
It’s not the wave but the sea of tears
It begins to become grey at a far away place on the ocean plane
How can sadness be tranquil and pure white?
On my face
Still holding
A bit of shallow helplessness
Let love permeate through the ground
All I want is you to be by my side

One of my dream shoots. I definitely couldn’t lug a human size grand-piano down a beach to do it for a Model (no money, no resources and definitely no clean and quiet beach in Singapore to do that); so therefore, let’s scale this thing down \o/
It was tough finding a piano for SD-size, much less getting it at a relatively reasonable cost. Most of the google internet research has turn up zero results aside from the thread on Den of Angels about using toddler size pianos for that matter. Despite the fact the key sizes are definitely much bigger for the fingers of a SD, the size of the piano however is just nice.
Well, you just have to rely on camera angles and tricks for that matter to pull it off.
Finding a toddler’s piano is easy. But finding one that looks realistic and believable is another, especially without those cheesy designs meant for kids. But i managed to find it and deal it. All in just one day. In 3 hours to boot (while at work omg.)
The shoot was generally influenced from Jay Chou’s November Chopin Album, particularly the songs ‘Feng’ (maple) and ‘Shan Hu Hai’ (Coral Sea). The image of the SDs were influenced from X-Japan’s Concert this year. The epic winning moment when Yoshiki played the piano while Sugizo played the violin. That particular segment in the entire concert was just pure orgasm.
Of course we worried about the weather. Like, this is December. The monsoon season OMG (and bloody hell, why does the other side of the world having snowfalls!?). But i figured that it gives that mood. That whole sorrowful romanticism that i was looking for. But alas, our prayers have been answered (those on my facebook probably seen the amount of prayers on my status that i made about please not letting it rain and instead have a windy x cloudy weather combo). Hey, the higher divine beings do hear our prayers! \o/
I won’t say the vision was 100% of what i was looking for. But it at least left me rather satisfied with my results. I thought i would take ages to edit the photos. But well, frankly, there was hardly any edit done ._.b
I would really like to extend my thanks to Tsu for being my awesome partner for this shoot. For braving the strong bone-chilling winds with me and going OMGWTF when Devin fell flat first into the sand D8 (I AM SO SORRY WOMAN). And erm, being able to withstand my hyperventilation each time i see the boys oh-so-wonderful abs.
Above all, i want to thank my little brother for, coming out of the house to be my ultimate photog assist on his day-off instead of slacking at home and playing computer and Xbox games. =3= And being my ultimate slave 8Dv
Thank you for reading my inner long and so-so-boring thoughts about this shoot. Really. Cookies for you guys. I promise next time i’ll just make a goddamn video so you can just not bother to waste your eye power to read all that useless chunk 8D;
